Direct Relief’s Hurricane Preparedness Program was established in 2006 with seed funding from Abbott. In 2009, following a series of devastating storms in the US, Direct Relief developed its waterproof hurricane preparedness modules to enable health centers and clinics to plan for hurricanes and other hard-to-predict emergencies.
