Lol I never had the balls to try and block or parry. Troll caves are tiny. It just big enough to fit a troll around a little corner. I go in and get a sneak bow shot off for bonus damage and spam as they approach. Once they swing I just leave the troll cave and wait 15 seconds lol rinse repeat. 4. Bow the troll, and use mace or axe to sweep the Gray Dwarves while the troll is out of range. Atgier sweep is also good. With bow use elevation to your advantage. You can hit stuff with a bow on an incline easily, it has a harder time landing melee. IF it is in a cave, sneak before you enter, and line up a full draw snipe. Leave cave, repeat.

Here's the thing, I'm trying to lvl up my troll armour so have been hunting trolls. I've been in to roughly 10 or 11 troll caves and only found 2 with trolls. The rest have been empty. I don't recall such a high percentage of empty troll caves. I've tried going in day and night.
